Director, Valuation Advisory

FairMarketValue (FMV) is hiring a Director to lead valuation services engagements, build client relationships and help shape a fast-growing valuation practice. You’ll own complex engagements and assist clients with financial reporting, mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, restructuring, tax planning, regulatory compliance, gift and estate tax reporting, management planning and strategic planning. Your work will be performed on a purpose-built platform that handles much of the work that slows traditional firms down, so more of your time goes to judgment, clients and growth.

About FMV

FMV is an AI-native financial intelligence and advisory firm built for America’s private business economy. We deliver independent business valuations, financial reporting and advisory services to banks, accounting firms, private equity firms and private companies. Credentialed professionals lead every engagement, powered by FMV’s proprietary platform and a data asset of more than 450,000 private-company financial statements and institutional transaction data.

  • Provide coaching, training, and career development that strengthen technical capabilities and support professional growth.

Improve how we work

  • Work with our product and engineering teams to apply AI, machine learning, and automation to develop more insightful, efficient, and tailored client solutions.
  • Develop and refine valuation frameworks and tools to improve efficiency, scalability, and analytical depth.
  • Lead process improvements that strengthen the quality and consistency of the firm’s valuation services.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least six years of valuation experience, preferably in a Big Four or other reputable accounting firm or investment bank.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, mathematics or a related field.
  • At least one of the following designations: CPA, CFA, ABV, CVA, ASA or CEIV.
  • Significant experience with middle-market business valuations, financial reporting, transaction analysis, and tax-related valuations, including estate and gift.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, including discounted cash flow, market multiples, comparable transactions, and complex financial instruments.
  • Strong analytical judgment, including the ability to assess business models, value drivers, risks, and key company issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience serving as a primary client contact and presenting valuation conclusions.
  • Ability to manage multiple client engagements effectively.
  • High agency: takes ownership, anticipates needs, and moves work forward with limited guidance while collaborating thoughtfully.
